ELLEN DEPOORTER

Ellen Depoorter, a native of Flanders, Belgium, lives and works in New York since 1998. She is active in the medium of figurative painting and drawing. New cultural experiences are her starting points; images from web posts, movies, and her own journeys are transformed to capture moments of ambiguous emotional states. In previous work she has explored blissful, horrific, contemplative and meditative states of mind. She has exhibited internationally in both group and solo exhibitions.
